Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Falls to Kutztown

KUTZTOWN--The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team placed three players in double figures but could not get by Kutztown University losing by a score of 76-56.

The Huskies were trailing by two points, 16-14, after a three-pointer by Stephanie Jones (Philadelphia/Manor College) with 9:43 to play in the first half when the Golden Bears went on a 14-3 run. That run pushed the home team's lead to 13 points, 30-17, with 2:23 left to play in the half.

Trailing by nine points at halftime, the Huskies pulled to within five, 35-30, on a basket from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) and a three-pointer from Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) with 17:27 to go in the game. Kutztown then outscored the Huskies 20-5 over the next nine minutes to grab a 55-35 lead. Bloomsburg could get no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Kegerreis scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds for the Huskies, while Stephanie Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) scored a career-high 14 points and Joyce adding 10 points.

Kutztown, 11-13, 4-5 in the PSAC East, got 16 from Rachel Wisemiller and 11 from Lara Delegrotti.

Bloomsburg, 7-17, 2-7 in the PSAC East, will play at home with East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
